I don't often share / showcase individual pieces of art by other artists on the blog, but this one really spoke to me for some reason. I love the style, the lighting / mood, the color palette, all the little narrative elements. It's an illustration that rewards looking closely. The artist is Matt Rockefeller, a recent graduate of the Maryland Institute of Art.

Hello. I just came across this piece while trying to find reviews for Chris Oatley’s Academy. I must say, I absolutely love this piece. It immediately spoke to me. I am a 30-yr old male and grew up playing video games (haha) but there was something about a rainy day in the summer that I loved going out and playing in. The fact that they didn’t even pause the game before they went outside is really cool. It’s like a separation of 2 worlds in 1 painting. I absolutely love it.
